Use a Professional Color-Safe Shampoo and Conditioner

After having your hair professionally dyed, wait 3 days (72 hours) before shampooing to allow your hair to seal in the color and slow down the loss of hue. When it's time to shampoo, it's very important to choose products specifically formulated for color-treated hair to prevent fading. Oribe has a great color protecting line called Beautiful Color. Products from this line is a take home MUST for our guests to ensure their hair color and investment is being taken care of at home!

How to Wash Your Hair

~Make sure to rinse your dyed hair with cool water to help preserve the vibrancy of your hair color. Hot water can open up the hair cuticle and strip away color and moisture.

~ Limit the frequency of washing: Try to wash your hair less frequently to prevent color from fading too quickly.

~Use a great Dry shampoo like the Davines Hair Refresher to help extend the time between washes. This wonderfully light and hydrating dry shampoo absorbs the excess sebum (the natural oils produced in hair follicles), and gives immediate body to the hair.

Protect from UV Rays

Just as you protect your skin with sun lotion to guard against the harmful rays, Sun Exposure can cause Hair Color result to Fade. Here are some tips for reducing the effects of the sun on your dyed hair.

  • Protect your hair with a hat or cute scarf.
  • Utilize products containing UV filters when spending time outdoors like Oribe Invisible Defense which adds light moisture without weighing down your hair.
  • Deep condition regularly: Treat your hair to deep conditioning treatments to keep it moisturized and healthy, which helps prolong the life of your color.
  • Use a mask like Davines Oi Hair Butter, which provides beneficial antioxidants for the ultimate nourishment of your hair, creating a soft bright look.
